The problem isn't "lack of parental support" so much as "lack of parental knowledge". They were quite supportive until someone actually in the industry explained what being a model really entailed.

And that is the point. It's more than just getting some pictures done and calling yourself a model. The agency explains all that and sorts out those who aren't really prepared to do what it takes to be a professional model. The internet has no process that does that.
