Many of the "casting calls" on that site and other similar sites are "real", and quite a few are not. Those that are real are generally of little value to the reader, and also generally known to those actors or models already in the marketplace.

Information like that is published in many readily available sources: "Backstage" comes to mind. Most talent agencies also get the "breakdowns", which list all of that stuff and a great deal more. And even though the "breakdowns" are supposed to be limited to only agency subscribers, as a practical matter every knowledgeagle actor in New York gets them, either from their agent or indirectly from other sources. The contents are common knowledge.

So even when the information on the site is real, it isn't going to give anyone much of a competitive edge. Those in the market already have that data - and if you aren't in the market, it doesn't do you much good.

There are also a few alleged "casting calls" for print work too. I've taken a look at some of them. A few might be real, but the time cycle of print work makes it impossible for a model to use the information. Much of what is on that site is not real - the site doesn't validate the data, and people with other agendas make "casting notices" to lure the unwary. One of them is a photographer who claims to be an agency, and really wants to shoot portfolios. He puts "casting notices" on routinely.

In the review I did of several sites claiming to have print work casting calls, none of them seemed to be something that could actually be acted upon by a model. I may have missed one or two, but there is an enormous amount of dreck in with the (if any) small number of valuable listings.
