"You don't have to have been through a school to work with us, we provide that kind of information down the road"

I'm confused over this comment. This could sound like "after we've suckered you in, you will need to pay us for classes, but we're not at all willing to tell you that up front." Or, perhaps, they really mean that as you need to know something about the industry or about a particular job, they will simply tell you. This isn't clear.

Why do you have to provide the film? I've never heard of that. Seems like that's what the photographer should supply, in part to make sure that the correct film is being supplied. It's also like telling you "bring your own makeup" but the artist there will apply it. That's not reality.

I would have also asked why you couldn't take your own polaroids, snap shots, or better yet, had a TFP session with a decent photographer in your area, as opposed to paying them for polaroids. I ran into this myself with an agency. They insisted on THEIR photographer because they knew and trusted that person. I paid the money, got crap photos and bad makeup, and was never even called for go-sees, let alone any work. Why oh why can't you get photos somewhere else? Why are they insisting on setting up tests for you?

If you look that good, you may very well be able to get free tests with a photog, and possibly a makeup artist. If you're really hot, a stylist too. You could even get multiple looks in that one shoot. If you have to pay for it, your costs could still be easily less than $150 per look.

Another thing that boggles my mind... POLAROIDS? Why not digital pictures that they can also upload to their site, send on to other agencies, etc? Polaroids have limited use and availability. 2 rolls doesn't amount to much of a shoot, maybe not even enough time for you to get comfortable. That would be a waste of $75 plus the cost of film.

But it's your money, and they may be legit. They do have a funny way of showing it.

America's Next Top Model's episode last night had Tyra saying "any agency that asks up front for money is a scam and you should run far far away".
